A depressed mood can leave you feeling as if nothing matters. You don’t feel like doing anything, but you know it is not healthy for you to feel this way. Fortunately, there are many actions you can take to boost your spirits. Sometimes all you need is a good laugh or to get moving. Need some ideas on how to lift your energy? Consider the following ten tips:

1. Sing and dance but do it silly! If you’re alone or in a crowd, it’s a chance to let loose and have a little fun. You may even feel better!

2. Eat a healthy snack or meal. There are certain healthy food options for depression that may help. Foods with omega 3’s and various healthy food choices can help improve serotonin levels in the brain.

3. Avoid overworking yourself. Keep your schedule under control. Being over-scheduled can trigger depression.

5. Avoid drugs and alcohol which can alter moods especially if taking anti-depressants.

7. Have a comfortable daily routine that will help you stay on track with getting things done. Include actions such as eating healthy meals, exercising, and other regular activities.

9. Seek therapy. There are various forms of depression therapy that can help you get on the positive side of thinking.

10. Go online for therapy- no really! There are forums, support groups, and additional options online through social media. Check for local options first to connect online with people near you.
